PAPSCU conducts 5th Educators Conference





The Philippine Association of Private Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAPSCU) held the Fifth Educators Conference on 20 March 2006 at Saint Michael’s College of Laguna.

One hundred three participants were member schools of the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP), Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities (PACU) and PAPSCU from all other Luzon who came to attend the Conference with the theme “Evolving Education Policy Directions”.



The Conference started with the Doxology and Philippine National Anthem by the University of Perpetual Help System (UPHS) Laguna Chorale.

Conference Chair Lourdes Almeda-Sese, Ed D., President of Saint Michael’s College of Laguna and PAPSCU 2nd Vice-President, welcomed the attendees. Jose Paulo E. Campos, Ed.D., Emilio Aguinaldo College President and PAPSCU President, delivered the opening remarks.



The Hon. Nona S. Ricafort, Ph.D., Commissioner of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) talked on “CHED’s Ladderization Program: Interfacing Technical Vocational Education & Training with Higher Education”. It was followed by an Open Forum with Dr. Horacio M. Montefrio, President of IETI Marikina and PAPSCU National Director, as Session Chair..

Session II immediately followed with Dr. Isabel F. Inlayo, CESO III, Director IV, CHED HERO IV-A, who presented the “Policy Direction on IQUAME” of Hon. Nenalyn Defensor, Ph.D., Commissioner of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). Session Chair Felino SM. Angeles, President of Tomas Claudio Memorial College in Morong, Rizal and PAPSCU 1st Vice-President led the open forum. Soon after, he introduced Fr. Roderick C. Salazar, Jr., SVD, President, CEAP for the reaction entitled “Divergent Issues, Convergent Views.”



After lunch, District Director Yerma N. Saulon, CESO IV of the Technical Education & Skills Development Authority (TESDA) discussed “Labor Market Analysis.” Mr. Antonio Del Carmen, President of STI College – Sta. Rosa and PAPSCU National Director, managed the open forum as Session III Chair.

The Business Meeting of member schools ended the whole day activity.
