SMCL wins regional student services award





Saint Michael’s College of Laguna is the Regional winner for the Best Student Services Program Award. Dr. Ethel Agnes P. Valenzuela, Director IV, Office of Student Services, Commission on Higher Education informed SMCL President and CEO, Dr. Lourdes Almeda-Sese about the newest feat of the institution.

The Technical Working Group (TWG) conducted an evaluation visit on 22 February 2006 to determine the National winner to be awarded on March 31, 2006. The TWG was composed of Dr. Freddie Bernal, Dr. Ervelyn Songo, Mrs. Ma. Elena Gabulac and Mr. Christian Alberto. Mr. Nelson Chavenia of CHED Region IV – A came to join the TWG.




The Best Student Services Program award recognizes and awards institutions whose outstanding student services programs were developed and implemented in support of the students’ academic success and development.

Applications shall be evaluated and ranked on the basis of the following:

National relevance (vision, mission and goals)   20%
Performance   60%
  Student Activities 15%  
  Welfare Services 15%  
  Control Services 15%  
  Student Extension Programs 15%  
Impact/Effect of Student Services/Programs to the Students   20%
     
    100%

Members of the TWG interviewed SMCL Administrators, Academic mangers and SPS personnel as they moved around the campus to validate the documents submitted for the search.
