To Our Dear Alumni and Students,
The article published in Manila Standard Today on May 15, 2010 re: “CHED flunks 147 nursing schools” which included Saint Michael’s College of Laguna was based on the school’s performance from 2004-2008.
In response to the said article, we are pleased to inform you that Saint Michael’s College of Laguna’s Nursing program has continuously strived to improve our graduates’ performance in the licensure examination and made considerate gains to date.
Our efforts have thus far worked with our performance in the recently concluded November 2009 Licensure Examination for Nurses. Of the 218 identified schools with 100 or more examinees, our College ranked 42 with 58.41% over-all performance exceeding the national pass rate posted at 39.47%.
Based on the Resolution No. 378-2009 adopted by the Commission en banc SY 2009-2010, our nursing program is already off the hook, considering that it’s average performance during the last three years (45.63%) exceeded the average national pass rate (43.52%) by 2.11%. ( www.prc.gov.ph )
Likewise, our Nursing Program was accredited Level I-Formal by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA) effective March 2010-March 2013.
We can only assure you that the College is steadfast in continuously striving to improve its program’s quality and excellence.
In Saint Michael,
Maria Regina M.C. Manabat
Dean, School of Nursing
