Roadmap to Renewal and Transformation

Saint Michaels College of Laguna commenced its 33rd year with a renewed commitment among the members of the Michaelean community to embrace the new challenges and realities and transform them into beautiful and meaningful opportunities for the Colleges continuing growth and sustainable development.

The College has every reason to bask on this new-found strength considering the amazing developments that concluded the prior year. In so short a time during the second semester, seven of its programs (78%) were accredited/reaccredited. Its Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Bachelor of Secondary Education and Bachelor of Elementary Education programs were awarded Level III Reaccreditation by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA) on 03 March 2008. Its Bachelor of Science in Nursing, High School and Grade School programs were awarded Candidate Status by PACUCOA on 14 April 2008, less than two months later.

What is admirable about the Michaelean community is how it responds positively to the signals. Although somewhat laid back in the beginning, the Michaelean rises to the challenge when called upon. How we finish is equally as important as how we started if not more important, claims Dr. Lourdes Almeda-Sese the dynamic and charismatic College President of the remarkably unprecedented feat.

For the current academic year, Dr. Sese points that in striking that delicate balance between the community of scholars and the corporate community, the tried and the tested strategies that seem to be not as effective as before have given way to new and fresh approaches. She says that in painting the roadmap to renewal and transformation, the College has to focus on major thrusts that address the community of scholars, by improving in students performance in academics, and the graduates in the licensure examinations and compliance to recommendations of accreditation; and those that address the corporate community, by improving recruitment of students through creative marketing and a more focused college positioning and image building and improving program viability through an aggressive collection program. Realizing the targets of these major thrusts will ultimately rebound to service excellence.

Moreover, Dr. Sese recognizes that the strength and beauty of the College has always emanated from its people. Each and every member of the organization has participated and contributed his/her all important share in heeding the call and braving the hurdles that confronted the College. It is my fervent wish that they will always be one with us as we continue our journey to significance. With our concerted collective efforts and Gods benediction we can never go wrong.
