BASIC EDUCATION DIVISION
Vision
The Basic Education Division envisions itself as a leading, premier, non-sectarian private institution of learning in the development of life-long learners who will contribute to a glocal community built on justice, compassion and peace.
Mission
Saint Michael's College of Laguna provides its learners, from the preparatory level through elementary and secondary school, a dynamic program of basic education, which stresses both training for academic proficiency and holistic formation. It aims to equip them with knowledge skills and values that will enable them to become productive, competent, responsible and humane citizens.
Objectives of Basic Education Division
- To develop student's competitiveness, academically and socially to meet the demands of an expanding global society;
- To develop student's potentials through the provision of curricular and extra-curricular programs;
- To promote student's personal, social and academic growth through the provision of development and enrichment activities that will make him contribute to the ever-changing and complex society;
- To promote student's positive self concepts, self-discipline and accountability for his or her actions, and to foster mutual respect and tolerance of all members of the learning community and the community at large;
- To develop student's social responsibility by encouraging him to participate in activities that will make him committed to be of service to God, the school community and society.
Grade School Objectives
- To equip the pupils of the fundamental skills and concepts that are prerequisites to all learning;
- To develop the unique talents and skills inherent in each pupil and encourage achievement and success through their intelligent appllication in appropriate life situations;
- To develop the pupils in the proper use of the basic tools of oral and written communication in preparation for the secondary education;
- To make pupils aware of his/her rights, duties and responsibilities to promote the dignity of each child in democratic society and for his/her active participation in a progressive and productive home and community life;
- To teach pupils to practice good health habits and to live healthy lives;
- To develop in pupils faith in God, in themselves, and in their fellowmen.
High School Objectives
- To develop the necessary skills and knowledge that will enable each student to pursue education beyond high school or enter a career of his/her choice;
- To develop higher intellectual skills that will result in appropriate literacy, problem solving capabilities, computer literacy and the desire to continue to learn in varied life situations;
- To enrich student's experiences through participation in creative and performing arts, sports and school life;
- To prepare learners for the world of work through exposure to varied productive and entrepreneural activites;
- To form desirable attitudes that will encourage habits of good citizenship by promoting respect for the individual, organizations, government, and society as a whole;
- To develop an appreciation of the Filipino heritage and culture and the desire to serve the country and the world as patriotic and useful citizen.
