SMCL HONORS HON. MAYOR ALONTE
The SMCL Community, led by its President, Dr. Lourdes Almeda-Sese honored the newly installed Mayor of Biñan, Hon. Marlyn Naguiat-Alonte through a “Putong” ceremony at St. Theodore Hall on 25 August.
SLECC pupils garbed in angels costume showered the Mayor with flowers as she entered the hall accompanied by Dr. Sese. There were performances before the ceremonial “Putong” which included a serenade by the Key Teacher of SMCL Grade School, Ferdinand Alvara with the song “ Hanggang”, a Maglalatik dance number from the Michaelean Theater and Dance Company (MTDC) and the Putong” dance from selected faculty and MTDC members.
As a tribute to the first woman to assume the mayoral post and at the same time a send-off to her first year of public service of this magnitude, Hon. Alonte was crowned by Dr. Sese. Mr. Jeffrey Abetria recited a poem written by Dr. Eriberto R. Astorga, Jr. She was revered by Dir. Leonila D. Cuasay and Zonta President Claudette Cruz.
The highlight of the program was the presentation of the outstanding achievements of SMCL to the Town Mayor. Dr. Sese presented the select line-up of Michaeleans who brought honors to SMCL to the honorable Mayor.
