About the College President

Dr. Lourdes L. Almeda Sese has devoted more than four decades of her professional life fostering the education and development of the youth of Laguna occupying various positions as Registrar, Assistant School Director, Executive Vice-President, and President of Saint Michael's College of Laguna.

As the 3rd President of SMCL, she is responsible for its metamorphosis from its humble beginnings in 1976 into a major presence in 2004, the first deregulated College in Laguna.

On its ruby founding anniversary, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) awarded SMCL autonomous status joining the ranks of the top 5% of the PHEIs nationwide. This recognition has been complemented by PACUCOA's Gold Award for having all its programs (9 or 100%) accredited on 01 December 2015.

Under her leadership, SMCL is ISO certified on an institutional level by TUV Rhineland, another breakthrough for the College.

On August 26, 2018, she was installed as the 9th President of the Philippine Association of Private Schools, Colleges, and Universities (PAPSCU). The following year, she assumed the Chairmanship of the Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations (COCOPEA), the unifying voice of private education in the Philippines.

Her zeal for public service extends beyond education. She has spirited advocacies and initiatives that promote the rights and welfare of the marginalized and the oppressed particularly those of women and children. She is a proud member of the Zonta Club of Laguna, her organization of choice which is an affiliate of Zonta International District 17 Area 5.

In 2019, she received the Gawad sa Natatanging Kababaihang Biñanense from the City Government of Biñan.
